Description
The Pope John Paul II Cultural Center National Essay Contest is available to high school seniors in the United States and its territories and possessions. In his 2005 World Day of Peace message, Pope John Paul II urged his listeners "to promote peace, using consistent means, giving importance to dialogue and works of justice and educating for forgiveness." You must write an essay explaining how you would specifically apply Pope John Paul II's guidance about dialogue, justice and education for forgiveness to address terrorism in the aftermath of 9/11. All entries must have a school or church sponsor to be eligible. If selected as a finalist you must attend the National Essay Contest discourse and finals in Washington, DC from April 20-23, 2006.

Biblical Common Knowledge Challenge scholarship 2012 2013

Description
The Biblical Common Knowledge Challenge is open to high school students enrolled at a high school within the United States and its territories. This challenge tests your knowledge of the Holy Bible and quiz answers are not based on interpretation of the Old and New Testament, but rather on facts as outlined in the scripture or passage. Contests are divided into 4 rounds and you will take short multiple-choice quizzes at the CKSF web site. Each week the quiz will consist of 15-25 questions on a Book, subject matter, or character of the Bible. The September 2005 contest will be based on the Book of Exodus.

Description:
The United Methodist Scholarship Program is a church-wide educational service providing scholarships to help supplement the financial needs of today’s students. Funding for these scholarships is provided through Special Sundays Offerings, wills, annuities and other designated gifts. Students need to complete only one application each year. Applications are reviewed by members of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) and other affiliated representatives.

Scholarship applications are accepted January 1 - May 15 each year. Awards are determined by July. Payment of scholarship awards are made after the Scholarship Office has received a verification of enrollment at a college or university for the Fall term.

The following are standard criteria for EVERY program offered through GBHEM:

- Applicants must be an ACTIVE, full member of The United Methodist Church for at least ONE year. Membership is determined by the date the applicant was confirmed and took membership vows with a United Methodist church. (Members of other Methodist denominations are not eligible.)
- Applicants must be pursuing a degree program at ANY accredited institution.
- High school students may apply IF they will be college students in the fall term.
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicants are required to be full-time students according to their school’s standards for the program for which they are enrolled.

Description

This award is available to any student who is a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and will be inrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university. Students need to submit the contact information to find out about campus ministry opportunities in their area. (4) $500 book scholarships will be awarded on or about Aug. 15. Checks will be sent directly to students after submission of social security number and varification of information. The award will be distributed as 2 $250 checks one for the fall semester and one for the winter semester.

American Baptist Financial Aid Program 2012 2013

The Office of Financial Aid for Studies, National Ministries, administers the American Baptist Financial Aid Program that supports college students, graduate students, and seminarians.

To be considered for an undergraduate scholarship, a student must be the following:
- an active member of an American Baptist church for at least one year before applying for aid
- preparing to enter an accredited institution in the United States or Puerto Rico as a full-time freshman in the fall of the application year; and
- a U.S. citizen.

Scholarship amounts vary and are paid directly to the school and credited toward the recipient’s tuition. Scholarships are renewable and require that the student maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75. These scholarships may not be combined with other funding provided by National Ministries. Applications must be received by May 31.

To be considered for a graduate studies scholarship, students must be the following:
- an active member of an American Baptist church for at least one year before applying for aid
- enrolled at an accredited institution in the United States or Puerto Rico; and
- a U.S. citizen.

To be considered for a one-time doctoral grant of up to $3,000, Ph.D. candidates must have completed at least one year of their doctoral studies. Applicants must plan to teach at the college or seminary level in a field of study directly related to preparing American Baptist ministerial leaders. D.Min. candidates are not eligible for this grant. Applications must be received by May 31.

Ellen Cushing Scholarship
The alumni of Cushing College provide scholarships to female graduate students preparing for a human service career in the secular world. M.Div. and D.Min. students are not eligible. Applications must be received by May 31.

The Mark Twain Scholarship is available to full-time students at secular universities, colleges, or institutions which award bachelor of science or bachelor of arts degrees. You must be majoring within the fields of arts and humanities, applied arts, education, science, social sciences, mathematics, engineering, or law to qualify for this award.
